The father of reggae left, who was he? Bob Marley released his albums “Talking Blue” in 1973 and “Exodus” in 1976. He released his third and last album in 1978”Bob Marley & the Wailers”. The way Bob Marley lived his life did affect his writing and did contribute to the development of his poetry. Bob Marley is undoubtedly my favorite musician. His musical message was all about the unity of the world. Bob Marley had firm devoted beliefs and conviction. Bob Marley contributed enormously to the fame of the Jamaican culture, particularly the Jamaican music mainly reggae.
Through his Art and through his work, Bob Marley insisted on brotherhood.
He influenced many others with his songs and touched the lives of millions with his constant message of peace and love. He constantly taught a certain wisdom and way of life with his music. In the song “One love”, from the album “Exodus”, he is talking about all mankind being one and united: “One Love, One Heart, let’s get together and feel alright”. In the album “Bob Marley and the Wailers”, the song “so much trouble in the world” talks also about unity: now, I know time has come to unity. In my opinion, this was a positive message helping people get together, seeing no differences between one another. The philosophy of unity derived from Bob Marley’s personal beliefs and convictions.
Bob Marley’s Rastafarians values and beliefs played an essential role in his music.
Bob Marley was a member of the Rastafarian movement and a great defender of ganja which he used as a sacrament. The spiritual use of this plant is mentioned in many of his songs. In the album “Talking blues”, the song “Redemption Song” talks about his ganja believes , whereas in the album “Bob Marley and the Wailers” he does not talk about cannabis because he is dying from it. Bob Marley’s convictions were very strong and firm. When his cancer was finally diagnosed on his big right toe, as a Rastafarian religious man, he refused the advice of the doctors and did not accept the suggested treatment
. It seems to me that Bob Marley’s believes caused him death. This is why, at the age of 36 years old, the cancer spread through his body and caused death to the best representative and ambassador of the Jamaican culture and music.
Bob Marley’s work contributed greatly to Jamaica’s music becoming widely known outside the Jamaican borders.
Thanks to Bob Marley's work, reggae music also became known internationally. Bob Marley contributed to the acceptance of the Jamaican culture outside Jamaica. For instance, one of Bob Marley's songs, called "One Love" from the album “Exodus “has been used extensively for Jamaican tourism commercials. In my opinion, Bob Marley truly affected the Jamaican cultural theme. No wonder why he has his own museum over there.
Both albums were a huge successes and remained many weeks (56weeks) on the top of the charts. Both albums touched a lot of people who were receptive to their message of peace, brotherhood, unity and love. I think Bob Marley will remain one of the most lyrical and poetical singer of all time. He had said while he was alive that his music will live on forever. He was not that wrong after all.
